Your server's address: changing it, the port and the extra port
Your server has an address to play like marco1.play.napnodes.com. You see it and copy it in “Home”, rename it whenever you like and, in Minecraft Java, you don't even need to type the port.
Where the address to play is
In your server's “Home”, the “Address to play” card, with “Copy” and the steps to join from your game. It's also on each server's card in “My servers” and in the email you get when it's ready.
It's the same for everyone: pass it to your friends as it is.
No server yet? Game servers from €6 a month, no contract and a full refund within 72 hours. Or create a free server, no card needed.
With or without a port
In Minecraft Java you don't need the port: the address alone is enough, because an SRV record tells the game which one it is. Bedrock players, if you've turned on Geyser, do have to type it separately.
In Project Zomboid, Valheim and Hytale the panel shows the address with a colon and a number: that number is the port, and you need it. In Zomboid it goes in its own box (“Port”; here are its ports, explained); in the others, type it as the game's screen tells you.
Changing the address name
It can be changed at most every 5 minutes.
Press “Change”
On the “Address to play” card in “Home”.
Type the name
Letters, numbers and hyphens, at least 3; accents are removed and spaces become hyphens. It will be NAME.play.napnodes.com. If another server already uses it, you're told. Out of ideas? Try the name generator.
Wait a couple of minutes
That's how long it takes to work everywhere.
Tell your players
The name you had before stops working. The address with the server's ID (letters and numbers) always keeps working.
Renaming the server in the panel
The pencil next to the name, at the top of “Home”, changes the name you see in the panel. The address to play doesn't change with it.
The ports and the extra port
In “Advanced settings” → “Ports” are your server's ports. The “Primary” one is the game's.
Paid Minecraft servers also come with an extra port, TCP and UDP, for a web map (BlueMap, Dynmap, squaremap) or a voice chat (Simple Voice Chat). There's just one: map and voice at the same time don't fit.
The map opens at http://your-address:extra-port, with http, not https. The web map and voice chat guides say what to put in each file.
Using your own domain
In Minecraft Java you can play with your own domain, such as mc.yourdomain.com. You set it up yourself in your domain's DNS: an SRV record pointing to your NapNodes address with the “Primary” port. The custom domain guide explains it step by step.
Frequently asked questions
What's my NapNodes server's IP?
Use the address on the “Address to play” card, in your server's “Home”, with its “Copy” button. It's the one your friends have to type.
Do I need to add the port in Minecraft?
In Java, no: the address alone is enough. From Bedrock, yes.
Can I change my server's address?
The name, yes: in “Address to play” → “Change”. Letters, numbers and hyphens, at least 3.
Can I have a web map and voice chat at the same time?
Not with the extra port the server comes with: there's just one, for one of the two.
Shall we set it up for you?
Game servers from €6 a month, never oversold: your RAM is yours alone. And if you'd rather start without paying, there's a free server, no card needed.
