Minecraft gradient text generator

Type a name, a rank or your server's title, pick two to five colours and see it exactly as it will look in the game. Then copy the code in the format your plugin understands.

With “&#RRGGBB”

<gradient:#5b4ae8:#c86bfa>My Server</gradient>

With “&x&R&R&G&G&B&B”

For older plugins that don't understand “&#”. 137 characters.

Where it's used

  • Names: with EssentialsX, /nick and the text in “&#” format.
  • Ranks: a LuckPerms group's prefix (/lp group vip meta setprefix "…"); your chat plugin displays it. How to create ranks is in the guide LuckPerms: ranks and permissions (in Spanish).
  • Tab list, holograms, menus and announcements: in each plugin's config, in the format its page tells you.

Plugins are installed on your server without downloading anything: at NapNodes, from Mods & plugins in the panel. More in the guide How to install plugins on a Minecraft server (in Spanish).

Frequently asked questions

Since which version does Minecraft have hex colours?

Since 1.16 (Java). Before that there were only the 16 classic colours (&a, &c…). If someone joins with an older version through ViaVersion, they'll see the closest classic colour.

Why does chat show the codes instead of the colours?

Because the plugin showing that text doesn't understand that format. Try another of the three the tool gives you: almost every plugin today understands “&#RRGGBB”, the oldest ones only “&x&R&R&G&G&B&B” and some only MiniMessage.

Does it work for the MOTD in server.properties?

No: server.properties only accepts the 16 classic colours. For that, use our MOTD generator; gradients in the server list need a MOTD plugin that supports them.

How do I give myself a gradient name?

With EssentialsX: /nick and the text in “&#RRGGBB” format. You need permission to use colours in your name, and the nickname can't go over the maximum length in its config (the codes count if it's set up that way).

Does it work on Bedrock?

Bedrock has no hex colours: anyone joining a Java server from Bedrock will see approximate colours or uncoloured text.

Just want the usual 16 colours? Use the MOTD generator.

No server yet?

At NapNodes you get a free Minecraft server, no card, running Paper: with plugins like EssentialsX or LuckPerms to use these colours from day one.
