LuckPerms commands generator

Choose your ranks, each one's prefix and what it can do, and get every LuckPerms command in order: creating the groups, the weight, the inheritance, the prefix, the permissions and the track to promote players. Below, the command for a single player: add them to a rank, give them vip for 30 days or see why they have a permission.

1. Your ranks, from lowest to highest

Each rank has its own permissions and inherits everything from the ones above: the moderator can do what the vip can, plus moderating. The first one is “default”, where everyone who joins lands.

In the server console, one command at a time: copy, paste, Enter and the next one.

2. A specific player

Type a player's name.

Before you paste them

  • LuckPerms installed on a Paper or Purpur server: on NapNodes, from “Mods & plugins” (or the .jar from its website in the plugins folder, through “Files”), then restart.
  • The plugins behind those permissions, too: an EssentialsX permission does nothing without EssentialsX. The ones in the list are the exact names from EssentialsX, CoreProtect, WorldEdit and LuckPerms.
  • A backup if the server already has players: on a plan, from “Backups”, and if something goes wrong you're back in a minute (the free server has no backups: in “Files”, compress the world folder and download it first).

Everything, step by step, in the LuckPerms ranks and permissions guide, and the commands behind those permissions in the EssentialsX guide. Prefer clicking to typing? lp editor gives you a link to its web editor. For a gradient prefix, use the gradient text generator (“&#” format).

Frequently asked questions

Where do I type these commands?

In the server console, without the slash, or in game chat with the slash in front if you're an op. The console takes one command at a time: that's why the tool copies them one by one.

What is “default”?

The group LuckPerms puts everyone who joins into. You don't create it: it already exists. Whatever you give default, everybody has, and since the other ranks inherit from it, they have it too.

What is the weight for?

When a player is in several ranks, the one with the highest weight wins: its prefix is the one shown. The tool sets 10, 20, 30… from the bottom up, so the highest rank wins.

I set the prefix and it doesn't show in chat

LuckPerms stores the prefix, but a chat plugin (EssentialsX Chat, for example) with Vault is what displays it. Without them, permissions work just the same, but chat doesn't show the prefix.

How do I give someone vip for 30 days?

Under “A specific player”, choose “Rank for a while”, the vip rank and 30d. LuckPerms removes it on its own when the time is up; with “See their ranks and info” you can see how long is left.

Does it work on Fabric, Forge or Hytale?

The commands are the same: LuckPerms has a version for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge and, in beta, for Hytale. What changes are each mod or plugin's permissions: the EssentialsX ones only exist where EssentialsX is installed.

No server yet?

At NapNodes you get a free Minecraft server on Paper, no card needed: LuckPerms and EssentialsX install from “Mods & plugins” and these commands go in its “Console”. And if you want the server always on, plans have their RAM reserved just for you.
