Minecraft server icon maker

Pick your logo or any image, crop it and see it as it will look in the server list. We give it to you at 64×64 and named server-icon.png, the only thing Minecraft accepts. No logo? Make one with letters.

How to put it on your server

  1. Download the server-icon.png from above. Don't rename it.
  2. Upload it to your server's main folder, next to server.properties (at NapNodes, in the panel's Files).
  3. Restart the server and refresh the server list in the game.

To finish the look, give it a coloured message with the MOTD generator, and if something doesn't show up, see the guide MOTD and server icon (in Spanish). To see it the way anyone sees it from outside, “Is my Minecraft server online?” shows the icon your server sends.

Frequently asked questions

What size does a Minecraft server icon have to be?

Exactly 64×64 pixels, as a PNG. At any other size Minecraft won't show it, and there's no warning in the game: you just get the default icon.

What does the file have to be called?

server-icon.png, all lowercase, in the server's main folder (the same one as server.properties). Watch out for Windows, which hides the extension and sometimes leaves it as server-icon.png.png.

I added the icon and it doesn't show. What's wrong?

It's almost always one of three things: it isn't 64×64, the name isn't exactly server-icon.png, or it's in another folder. If all three are right, restart the server and refresh the server list in the game.

Can it be an animated GIF or have transparency?

Not animated: Minecraft only reads the first frame. Transparency yes, PNG keeps it; in the list you see the menu's dark background through it.

Does it work in Minecraft Bedrock?

No: Bedrock's server list doesn't show icons. If Bedrock players join your Java server through Geyser, they'll see the name and the MOTD, but not the icon.

No server yet?

At NapNodes you get a free Minecraft server, no card, with the full panel to upload the icon, change the MOTD and add plugins.
