How many hours a day is it on?

The default is just a starting point: put in the price per kWh from your bill.

Keeping this computer on 24 h a day costs more in electricity than the Wood plan, which also doesn't depend on your computer or your connection.

Frequently asked questions

How much electricity does a Minecraft server use on a PC?

It depends mostly on the computer, not the game: a desktop PC serving a game draws around 60–120 W at the wall, so left on all day that's about 45–90 kWh a month. A Raspberry Pi or a mini PC, about 10–15 W.

Is it cheaper to run it at home than to rent one?

If the computer is small or you only switch it on for a few hours, the electricity can work out cheaper than a plan. Left on all day on a desktop PC, it almost always costs more than the smallest plan, and on top of that you have to open ports and leave the computer to it.

Where do I find my electricity price?

On your bill, in the energy charge (€/kWh). If you have time-of-use pricing, use an average; if you don't know it, leave the value that's already there.

What if we only play now and then?

That's what the free server is for: you start it from the panel when you want to play and it stops by itself after 20 minutes with nobody on, so nothing has to stay on.

Before you decide: how to play with friends without opening ports (in Spanish), a free Minecraft server (in Spanish) and how much RAM your server needs.
