Minecraft armor stand generator
An armor stand with arms, without a base plate, with the armour you want, a player's head or turned into floating text. Pick what it's for, change whatever you need and copy the command: it comes out written the way your server's version understands it, with a drawing of the pose.

Fine-tune each part (degrees)
/summon armor_stand ~ ~ ~ {ShowArms:1b,NoBasePlate:1b,equipment:{chest:{id:"netherite_chestplate"}}}How to use the command
- Make yourself an operator: in the server console,
op YourName(it's in the guide to admin commands). - Stand where you want the armor stand: with
~ ~ ~it spawns right at your feet. - Copy the command and paste it into the chat (T key). If it's over 256 characters, the chat cuts it: use a command block, or the server console without the slash and with real coordinates (from the console,
~ ~ ~is the world spawn point, not where you are).
What each box does
- Show arms (
ShowArms): without it you don't see the arms or what it holds. - No base plate (
NoBasePlate): for statues, so the stone slab doesn't show. - Small (
Small): child size. - Invisible (
Invisible): you see the armour and what it holds, but not the wooden stick. - Floats (
NoGravity): it stays where you put it, even with nothing below. - Can't be broken (
Invulnerable) and nobody can take or add items (DisabledSlots): for the statue at a public server's spawn. - Marker (
Marker): no hitbox, it can't be hit or touched and doesn't get in the way; it's what floating text needs.
Poses, in degrees
Each part (head, body, arms and legs) rotates on three axes. With a negative X, the arm or leg goes forward (−90 is straight ahead, −180 straight up); with Z, it opens out to the side. The poses in the list are a starting point: open “Fine-tune each part” and the drawing changes with it.
Frequently asked questions
I copied an armor stand command and it spawns without the armour
Because since 1.21.5 equipment no longer goes in ArmorItems and HandItems, but in equipment:{head:…, chest:…}. The game doesn't give an error with the old form: it ignores it and the armor stand comes out bare. Pick your version above and the command comes out the way your server understands it.
How do I give an armor stand arms?
With the ShowArms:1b tag, the “Show arms” box. In survival, armor stands come without arms and there's no way to add them without commands (or a plugin).
How do I make floating text without plugins?
With an invisible armor stand, with no hitbox and no gravity, that has the text as an always-visible name: press “Floating text” above, type the text and copy the command. For several lines, one per line, 0.3 blocks apart in height (for example ~ ~0.3 ~). With lots of text, or text that changes, a hologram plugin is easier.
How do I remove an armor stand that won't break?
If it's invulnerable or a marker, it won't break by hitting it. Stand next to it and type /kill @e[type=armor_stand,distance=..2,limit=1,sort=nearest]: it removes only the nearest one within 2 blocks. Without limit=1 you'd remove every one around you.
Can I change the pose afterwards?
Yes, with /data merge entity on the armor stand and the Pose part of the command, or by killing it and placing it again. If you're placing lots of them, an armor stand editor plugin lets you move them with the mouse.
Does it work for Bedrock?
No. In Bedrock the armor stand has no tags: you change the pose by sneaking and using it, and it always has arms.
