Minecraft /give command generator
Pick the item, its enchantments and, if you like, a coloured name and some lore. The command shows up below, written the way your server's version understands it, ready to copy.
Enchantments Sharpness 5, Unbreaking 3 · change
Set the level (0 = without it). With /give you can go past the normal maximum, up to 255.
/give @p diamond_sword[enchantments={sharpness:5,unbreaking:3}]How to use the command
- Make yourself an operator: in the server console,
op YourName(it's in the guide to admin commands, in Spanish). - Copy the command and paste it into the game chat (T key), with the slash in front.
- If it's very long, the chat cuts it at 256 characters: paste it into the server console, without the slash.
The three forms of /give
Since 1.21.5 (and in the 26.x versions) enchantments go in square brackets and nothing else, like diamond_sword[enchantments={sharpness:5}]. From 1.20.5 to 1.21.4 they had levels in between, and up to 1.20.4 everything went in curly braces with Enchantments. A server only understands its own: that's why you pick the version here.
Enchanted books are a special case: their enchantments are “stored” (stored_enchantments) so they work at the anvil. The generator does it on its own if the item is enchanted_book.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a /give I copied from a video give me an error?
Because /give changed in 1.20.5 and again in 1.21.5. Commands with curly braces after the item ({Enchantments:…}) are from 1.20.4 or earlier; in today's versions they go in square brackets. Pick your version above and the command comes out the way your server understands it.
Where do I type the command?
In the game chat, with the slash in front, if you're an operator (op). Or in the server console, without the slash. From the console, use the player's name: the @s selector doesn't work there.
Can I go past an enchantment's maximum level?
Yes: with /give you can go up to level 255, for example Sharpness 10. At the anvil, on the other hand, the game won't let you go past the normal maximum.
I have EssentialsX and /give doesn't work
EssentialsX brings its own /give, which doesn't understand enchantments in this format. Tick “I have EssentialsX” and the command will start with minecraft:give, which is the game's own.
Does it work for Bedrock?
No. Bedrock's /give doesn't support enchantments or names; there you use /enchant after giving the item.
No server yet?
At NapNodes you get a free Minecraft server, no card, with the panel's console to type these commands. And if you want to play with no queues and the server always on, the plans have RAM reserved for you alone, with each machine's load public on the status page.
