Is my Project Zomboid server online?

Type the server's address and port, the same ones you use under “Join” → “Favorites”. We query it the way Steam's server browser does and tell you whether it replies, what it's called, how many survivors are on and which version it runs.

If it says “Not responding”

It's almost always one of these: the server is offline or still starting (the first time it downloads several GB and takes a while), that's not its port, or it can't be reached from outside (router or firewall: Zomboid needs 16261 and 16262 open over UDP by default). It's explained step by step in “Can't connect to your Project Zomboid server?”.

Frequently asked questions

Which port do I enter?

The game port, the one you use to join: 16261 unless someone changed it. Zomboid answers these queries on that same port.

It responds, but I can't join in the game

Then the server is fine and the problem is something else: a different version (Build 41 against Build 42), mods that don't match, the password or the whitelist. It's all in the connection errors guide.

Does it work for Build 41 and Build 42?

Yes: both answer Steam's query the same way, and we show you the version if the server reports it.

Do you store the addresses I check?

No. The server is queried on the spot and the answer is forgotten within a few seconds.
