Minecraft item IDs

Type the name you see in the game (“saddle”, “red bed”, “command block”) or part of the ID, and copy the ID or a /give ready for the console. Every block and item of the latest version is here, with the game's own English names.

The IDs people ask for most on a server

The ones that aren't in the normal creative inventory (commands only) and the hard ones to get:

  • Command Block: minecraft:command_block
  • Barrier: minecraft:barrier
  • Light: minecraft:light
  • Structure Block: minecraft:structure_block
  • Debug Stick: minecraft:debug_stick
  • Monster Spawner: minecraft:spawner
  • Knowledge Book: minecraft:knowledge_book
  • Jigsaw Block: minecraft:jigsaw
  • Enchanted Golden Apple: minecraft:enchanted_golden_apple
  • Totem of Undying: minecraft:totem_of_undying
  • Elytra: minecraft:elytra
  • Mace: minecraft:mace
  • Trident: minecraft:trident
  • Netherite Ingot: minecraft:netherite_ingot
  • Dragon Egg: minecraft:dragon_egg
  • Beacon: minecraft:beacon
  • End Portal Frame: minecraft:end_portal_frame
  • Player Head: minecraft:player_head
  • Saddle: minecraft:saddle
  • Name Tag: minecraft:name_tag
  • Bundle: minecraft:bundle
  • Bottle o' Enchanting: minecraft:experience_bottle

For example, to give yourself a command block: /give @p minecraft:command_block (you need to be an operator and have command blocks turned on: it's in the command blocks guide (in Spanish)).

How to use an ID

  1. Find the item above and press “Copy /give”.
  2. Paste it in the game chat (with the /) or in the server console (without the slash), changing @p to your name.
  3. If you want an item with enchantments, a name or a colour, the /give command generator writes the tag each version expects.

To use /give on a server you have to be an operator: see how to give OP and the other admin commands.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see an item's ID in the game?

Press F3 + H to turn on advanced tooltips: when you hover over an item in your inventory, its ID shows under the name (for example, minecraft:saddle). For a block in the world, press F3 and look at the right-hand column while you aim at it.

Why don't number IDs like 1 or 35:14 work any more?

Number IDs were removed in 1.13: since then every block and item has a name (minecraft:stone, minecraft:red_wool). If a guide or a video gives you a number, it's from a very old version.

Do I have to type “minecraft:” in front?

No: /give @p diamond and /give @p minecraft:diamond do the same thing. The prefix only tells the game's items apart from the ones mods add (create:wrench), so on a modded server it's worth always adding it.

Why aren't water, lava or fire in the list?

The list is of what you can hold in your inventory, which is what /give accepts. Water or fire are blocks without an item: you place them with /setblock (minecraft:water, minecraft:fire) or with a bucket and flint and steel.

Do these IDs work on Bedrock?

Most have the same name, but not all: some blocks are called differently on Bedrock and the commands change. This list is for Minecraft Java, the edition of servers with plugins.

Want to try the commands on your own server?

On your own server you're the operator, and commands go in the panel's Console without joining the game. NapNodes has a free Minecraft server, no card needed, on Paper and the latest version.
