Set up your server without touching files: each game's settings
Difficulty, password, PvP, number of players, whitelist: it's all in “Settings”, explained in plain words, with a search box and no save button. Each change saves by itself and almost everything applies on restart. This is what each game has.
How “Settings” works
It's in your server's menu, and in “Home” as “Set up the game”. Settings are grouped by topic, each with its explanation underneath, and at the top there's a search box: type “pvp”, “password” or “difficulty” and only those appear.
There's no save button: each change saves instantly and a notice tells you so. If the server is running, the notice has “Restart”, because almost everything applies on restart.

Minecraft: settings, game rules and players
“Settings” has all of server.properties by topic (the game, joining and players, the world, the resource pack, performance and advanced), except what NapNodes manages, such as the port.
“Game rules” are those of /gamerule. Since 1.21.9, PvP, monsters, the Nether and command blocks live here and not in server.properties. They're changed with the server running and apply to the world, the Nether and the End at once.
“Players” has three tabs: “Whitelist”, “Operators” and “Banned”. Type the exact Minecraft name and press “Add”. The whitelist only counts if you turn on “Whitelist” in the settings.
Valheim: password, world and modifiers
In “The essentials”, the “Password to join” (with “Copy”; 5 to 20 characters and not contained in the server or world name), the “Server name” in the list, “Show in the public list”, “Crossplay (Xbox and Game Pass)” and the “World”. The world must have the same name as its folder: with another name, the server creates a new, empty one (the old one stays saved).
In “World difficulty and modifiers”, a preset (Normal, Casual, Easy, Hard, Hardcore, Immersive or Hammer) and, on top, combat, death penalty, resources, raids and portals, plus switches such as “No build cost” or “No map”. They apply on restart.
And in “Saving and the game's backups”, how often Valheim saves the world and how many backups of its own it keeps.
Project Zomboid: every server and world setting
All the server ones and the world's sandbox ones, with the game's own names and help text. At the top, what gets changed most: showing in the public list, the password, players at once and PvP. They apply on restart, and some world ones only in a new world.
In “In-game admin”, the username and password to log in as admin, with “Show” and “Copy”. “Create a new admin” makes another, random one, with the server running. Workshop mods are separate, in “Mods”.
Hytale: with the server stopped
The settings from its config.json: the server name, the welcome message, the password, max players, game mode, view distance and the world ones, such as PvP or fall damage.
Change them with the server stopped: the game rewrites those files when it shuts down and would overwrite whatever you'd changed while it was running.
Discord bots: “Version & startup”
For bots, the start file, the Node.js or Python version and the GitHub repository are in “Advanced settings” → “Version & startup”.
Reinstalling the server
At the bottom of “Settings”, “Reinstall server” runs the game install again, in case something has broken and it won't start. The world usually stays, but some files may be deleted or changed: make a backup first. To confirm, you have to type REINSTALL.
If you'd rather edit the file
Everything is still in “Files” for anyone who wants to edit it by hand. In Minecraft, Zomboid and Hytale, “Settings” reads and writes those same files, so what you change in one place shows in the other.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I change my server's difficulty?
In your server's “Settings”: type “difficulty” in the search box. In Valheim it's in “World difficulty and modifiers”.
Why isn't a settings change taking effect?
Almost everything applies on restart: press “Restart” in the notice. In Hytale, change it with the server stopped; in Zomboid, some world settings only work in a new world.
Where's my Valheim server's password?
In “Settings” → “The essentials”, with “Copy”. It's generated when the server is created and you change it right there.
How do I turn on the whitelist in Minecraft?
In “Settings”, turn on “Whitelist” and add your friends in “Players” → “Whitelist” with their exact Minecraft name.
