Hytale Server Admin Commands
The commands you use to run a Hytale server, taken from the server itself (early access version 0.7). Type them in chat with a “/” in front, or in the server console without it. The game changes often, so “/help” always shows the ones on your version.
Make yourself operator (first thing)
You need to be an operator to use almost every command. Join the server with your character and, from the server console (on NapNodes, the panel's “Console”), type “op add” and your player name: it accepts the name of someone online or their UUID. Once you have permissions, “/op add” and “/op remove” give and take operator from other players.
To let a friend do only some things, without handing over full control, see Hytale server groups and permissions.
/op add <player>
Adds a player to the operators group.
/op remove <player>
Removes their operator status.
/help
Lists the commands; “/help <command>” shows the help for a specific one.
Rather not set it up yourself? Hytale servers from €8 a month, no contract and a full refund within 72 hours. Or create a free Hytale server, no card needed.
Who gets in: whitelist, kick and ban
/whitelist enable and /whitelist disable
Turns the whitelist on or off: while it's on, only the players on it can join. Since Update 6, the whitelist is a permission, hytale.server.join.
/whitelist add <player> and /whitelist remove <player>
Adds or removes a player from the whitelist. “/whitelist list” shows the list and “/whitelist status” whether it's on.
/kick <player>
Kicks a player off the server (they can join again).
/ban <player> and /unban <player>
Bans or unbans a player, by name or UUID.
/who
Lists who's online.
/maxplayers <number>
Changes the maximum number of players at once.
The game
/gamemode <mode> [player]
Changes the game mode: adventure or creative (or their short forms, a and c).
/time set and /time get
Sets or checks the world time.
/weather set and /weather reset
Forces a weather in the world or sets it back to normal.
/tp
Teleports a player to a position; “/spawn” takes you to the spawn point and “/spawn set” changes it.
/give <item> [amount]
Gives an item to a player.
/heal and /kill
Restores health and stamina, or kills a player and makes them respawn.
/say <message>
Broadcasts a message to the whole server.
The server
/backup
Takes a backup of the world (the “universe”) at that moment. With the official launcher, the server also makes automatic backups every 30 minutes, in the backups folder. How to go back to one is in the Hytale backups guide.
/world save
Saves the worlds to disk.
/stop
Saves and shuts down the server.
/update check and /update status
Checks whether there's a new server version and how far along the update is. How it gets applied is in the Hytale updates guide.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make myself admin on my Hytale server?
Join the server and, from its console, type “op add” and your player name. After that, “/op add” gives operator to others.
How do I turn on the whitelist in Hytale?
With “/whitelist enable”, then add each player with “/whitelist add <player>”.
How do I change the game mode in Hytale?
With “/gamemode creative” or “/gamemode adventure” (or c and a). For another player, add their name.
Why isn't a command working?
Either you're not an operator, or it changed in a new early access version: “/help” shows the ones on your version.
Shall we set it up for you?
Hytale servers from €8 a month, never oversold: your RAM is yours alone. And if you'd rather start without paying, there's a free Hytale server, no card needed.
